Lumbar Canal Stenosis: Understanding the Condition

Lumbar canal stenosis, a common condition affecting spinal disorders, refers to the narrowing of the spinal canal in the lower back. This narrowing can compress the nerve roots, leading to pain or numbness in the legs, as well as difficulties in walking long distances. Age-related wear and tear is the primary cause of this condition, and treatment options vary from physical therapy to more advanced procedures like endoscopic spine surgery.

Common Signs:

- Pain, numbness, or a heavy feeling in the legs, calves, or buttocks

- Difficulty walking or standing for extended periods, which improves when sitting down or leaning forward

- Weakness in the legs.
